Birthday Polo: Keepin' It Classy!

This past Sunday we celebrated Melissa's birthday with cake, mint julips, toy horses, and big hats. Before I delve into the party details, here are my favorite things about Mel, in honor of her being around, and still putting up with me, for another year:

1. She is up for anything at anytime and is never afraid to try something new.
2. She has the longest, thinnest, prettiest fingers.
3. She calls you on your bull**** but still manages to make you laugh and feel loved.
4. She has a wicked sense of humor- my kindred spirit!
5. She will always call or text back and never leaves you hangin'- LOVE that!

So of course I was thrilled to celebrate another lovely year with her! And since we are all getting older, what better way to celebrate than by classing things up at the polo club?!

Pretty Birthday Girl! Please note the tiny ponies on cake- it's all in the details people!

My, my don't we look classy! Ladies in hats and pastels- does it get any more Downton Abbey? Maybe some more aviators? Yeah, more aviators.

Divet time! Not as fun as Pretty Woman made it seem- but there was free champagne! Also, I totally screen snapped all these pics from Mel's Kodak Gallery, hence the image number at the bottom- will my pirating know no bounds??

Look at this dapper gentleman! Please keep this picture in mind when you get to the last picture.

Polo pals! We actually dress like this for every Sunday Funday. Just because it's a party does not mean you should leave your hat (or aviators) at home.

Hmm . . . polo itself was probably the least interesting part of the afternoon. But maybe I just don't know enough about it. You hear that Prince Harry? I would loooove a private lesson whenever you are stateside again! Call me! xoxo

Tate meets one of the athletes. He was nice, if a little quiet, and did not sign any autographs, but did gift Tate with a horseshoe. So kind!

I love my husband. I do. And he has big, beautiful eyes. However, sometimes, just sometimes, he may take a picture in which he looks ever so slightly like . . . a serial killer. He argues that this is not true. Thanks to this candid shot, I don't think I will ever lose that argument again. And yes, that is a drink umbrella in my hair . . . Mint Juleps are not for the faint of heart . . .

Happy Birthday Mel!!
