Scenes from the Weekend

Friday

Friday night was an excellent dinner at the Italian restaurant, Patrenella's. It's a Houston staple, but it was J and I's first time there. And funnily enough, when we go there, J remembered that the judge who married us was also a Patrenella. We asked the waiter and sure enough, David Patrenella is part of the restaurant family!
The food was great, and between savory clams and mussels and fried ravioli, we definitely decided to go back soon! It was also great to see friends, especially Matt and Mel who left for the airport directly from the restaurant to take a red-eye to Puerto Rico! Those jetsetters!

Saturday

Liz spent the night Friday, so Saturday morning we all did a little shopping, including a stop at Pet Smart where Liz met this new friend! So cute right?! Too bad kittens always turn into cats!

Saturday night I headed over to uber-trendy Up for a girl's dinner to celebrate sweet Lisa's birthday. Two of her besties from the Keys flew in to spend the weekend with her, so it was an extra special dinner mingling her Florida friends with her Texas friends. One of the highlights of dinner was the surprise cake they sent out! Not only did it give Lisa a chance to make her birthday wish, but there was enough vanilla meringue cake to go around!

Sunday

Sunday was very busy, and I didn't get too many pictures. We drove out early Sunday to Lisa's house in Tomball where we grilled out, sipped wine, and celebrated sweet L a little more.
We had to leave early to then get back to Houston by 3, so I could attend a lovely graduation tea for two of my former students. It was so thoughtful of them to invite their teachers, and I had a great time!
But Lisa's Tomball party apparently kicked into high gear soon after we left. And as usual, someone *ahem* partied a little too hard:

Please note the hands still gripped tightly on the floaty handles. Even when napping one must always make safety the highest priority!

  1. We love Patrenella's! Well, used to. Guess we don't get that way too much anymore. And you look lovely my Friend--just beautiful!

Tell Lisa happy birthday for me!
