Rule of (Green) Thumb

Green thumb? Not here, no sir. Give me a plant and I will ensure it does not make it through the year (and that's generous). But it's not because I have some hatred of plants.

Quite the contrary, I love the little green guys. And that's why, even though it means I am most certainly condemning them to a slow death, I had to pick up these fellows while grocery shopping today:

I couldn't resist! Succulents are so IN right now, and these were a steal at $4 a piece! Plus, they are totally low maintenance. All the need is a little sun and a little love. I can do that!

And did I mention they help purify the air? You can't lose with these guys! I think we can make it work, I really do.

Hello, new little friends. I totally believe that you will not perish in your new home. Or more exactly, I 87% believe the whole not perishing thing.

Look at this little beauty! Already hard at work purifying our air. Thanks, you juicy little plant nugget!

And don't worry, they aren't doing all the work. I've got plans to decorate their currently Plain Jane pots to help them feel more at home. Nothing like a makeover to make you feel loved!

How cute is this?! And it seems pretty easy to make, according to Pinterest, so therefore it must be true.

I think it would really spruce up their current look, or if nothing else, they will make really adorable coffins in case this doesn't quite work out how I hope . . .

Guess Who's Back! Like, really back . . .

ME!!!

And yours truly is just happy to be here, aren't we? Yes, yes, we are.

I tried, I really did, to stay in the world of internet sans computer, but it's difficult, to say the least. Typing full sentences without a real keyboard? PUH-lease! That's caveman nonsense!

But my sweet hubz hunted and gathered a new (to me) laptop, so I can continue to be a part of the world wide web. I hate to feel left out . . .

My new electronic friend! And yes, that's Pockets in the background. He's graduated to J's office where now he gets to hang out with uber-cool tax lawyers and no longer lives in fear of being groped by sweaty high schoolers (unless he actually liked it, in which case his new life sucks. I wouldn't know- he never talks about his feelings).

And I've got lots and lots to share after a fun summer. And it's not quite over! We leave next Tuesday for SPAIN!!!

We are meeting out sweet Jantz friendlies in Barcelona, where we will party party. We will also visit Sitges beach, and then J and I will fly to PARIS!!!

(I know, I know, but I couldn't resist)

I've never been to any of these places, so I am beyond excited! Any tips for what we should do, see, eat?

There are lots of other bits o' info to share and pics to be seen, but until I can download them all (Faster, laptop! Faster!), I leave you with the picture that made me happiest this week.
It was taken early morning at Starbucks after my run when I stopped by for an iced coffee and the usual sandwich:

Forgive the grainy quality. I snapped it paparazzi style from my car while pretending to check my email. But a gem nonetheless, right? And it may or may not be the current desktop picture on my new computer . . .

Picture a day: reliving your childhood, if you're childhood involved beer

This past Saturday we headed to Joystix arcade for our friend Ashlee's birthday. It was an 80's extravaganza complete with fanny packs, leg warmers, pizza, and Pac Man. Why do costumes make everything so much more fun? I'm going to start wearing one to the dentist.

A Picture A Day: Happy Friday!

Fun plans for this weekend? Mine is getting off to a great start with morning massages at The Houstonian with Melissa and then lunch at Tiny Boxwood complete with warm chocolate chip cookies! I hope your weekend involves many a cookie too!

A picture a day: love on the run

Yesterday morning I went running at Memorial park. It was pretty ordinary (ie sweaty, panty, and full of self-pity) until I came upon a large banner strung between two trees right in the middle of the track.
Some adorable husband wanted to make sure his special lady knew he was thinking of her during her run. And as an added bonus, he's thrifty! If the banner was good enough for year 50, it's certainly good enough for year 51!

A Picture A Day: The Most Secure Man In The World

My husband doesn't always drink girly cocktails, but when he does, he orders the biggest one possible:
